How to Register and Bid
- Q: How do I register to bid?
- A: Create an account with your name and email. You will receive a confirmation email, click the link to activate your account before placing bids.
- Q: Do I need a credit card to bid?
- A: Yes, a credit card is required to register to bid to help eliminate bogus bidders. All information is encrypted and securely stored with Stripe.com.
Tracking and Managing Your Bids
- Q: How can I track my favorite stallions?
- A: Click Add to Favorites on any listing. To view only your picks, select Favorites at the top of the auction page. Choose View All Stallions to return to the full list.
- Q: What is Maximum Bidding?
- A: Enter the highest price you are willing to pay. The system automatically raises your bid in the bid increments when you are outbid, up to your maximum amount. You will get an email when your max is reached.
- Q: How do I change my maximum bid?
- A: To RAISE your maximum bid: Enter a new higher
bid amount in the UPDATE YOUR BID field. If the new bid is higher than
your current maximum bid, the "Maximum Bid" field will automatically
change to match your new bid amount. Click on UPDATE BID. You will
receive a confirmation popup, and then the new Maximum Bid will display.
PLEASE NOTE: the auction will continue to bid automatically by the
minimum bid increment, even if you enter a much larger number.
To LOWER your maximum bid: Enter your new bid amount in BOTH fields - UPDATE YOUR BID and MAXIMUM BID. The bid must still be higher than the next minumim bid to be accepted. Click on UPDATE BID. You will receive a confirmation popup confirming the new maximum bid. The auction will continue to bid on your behalf by the minimum bid increment until it reaches your new maximum bid. - Q: What is Extended or No-Rush Bidding?
- A: If a bid comes in during the final five minutes, the auction extends by another five minutes for that stallion. This prevents last-second sniping and keeps bidding fair.
- Q: How do I know if I have been outbid?
- A: You will get an email every time your bid status changes. Outbid, high bidder, or winner. Refresh the page frequently for real-time accuracy.
Understanding Bid Results
- Q: How do I win a stallion bid?
- A: You win when your bid exceeds all other bidders maximum bids by at least one increment, for example, 100 dollars. If you tie another bidders max, their earlier bid wins.
- Q: What do the color borders mean?
- A: A colored border shows your current status:
Green: You are the high bidder
Red: You have been outbid - Q: What if my bid is not high enough?
- A: If your bid does not beat another bidders maximum by the minimum increment, you will stay outbid until you go higher.
